Moving with children
Remember that for children, moving can be a bewildering
and perhaps a sad experience—if you don't take
steps to persuade them otherwise. Things you can do:
- Accentuate the positive. Try to make them feel that the
move is a big adventure. Talk about the good things about your new accommodation
and the area it's in; and the things that you as a family will be able to
do there.
- Involve them in the move. Let them pack up some of their
own things, especially toys; and unpack them and set them up at the other
end.
- Consider having a grandparent or friend take care of them
for at least part of the day.
House plants
Don't over-water your plants in the days before the move. Giving them an extra
drink for the journey can cause problems!
If you do your own packing:
- Line boxes with suitably sized plastic bags, open end upwards, to help
guard against moisture from the plant or the pot soaking through the packaging.
- Place pots in their own plastic bags.
- Protect any breakable pots with tightly crushed paper to hold them firmly
in position inside the box.
- Mark "PLANT; THIS WAY UP" on the outside of the box. If you have
lots of them, identify the plant, too.
Insurance
Will our goods be insured during the move?
Yes, if you accept the insurance terms shown on our quotation. Our insurance
is provided by a specialist insurance broker who specialises in providing cover
tailored for the removals and storage industry. We would not recommend relying
solely on your ordinary household insurance, even if your policy suggests you
have some level of cover during house moves.
Split deliveries
Can Bradbeers split a delivery, delivering some of the load to our
destination address and some to a relative's address?
Yes.
We are not moving a whole house-full. Can Bradbeers take part-loads?
Yes, we can sometimes do this if we have two jobs in the same area. It's worth
asking!
What packing materials does Bradbeers have available?
Boxes, paper, tape, bubble wrap, and blankets.
